"To Fly" Animation

This is the animation I created for the "To Fly" Project. I created this by drawing each frame onto acetate using a board marker, and taking a picture of each frame. I am pleased with how my animation has turned out, but I found the whole process very time consuming, and you need a lot of patience for it.

Definitions~

Just to clarify....

Metropolis = a major city, especially the chief city of a country or region ; a city or urban area regarded as the center of a specific activity.

Basically, in my mind, when I hear the word "Metropolis", I think of a busy, buzzing vibrant city, with towering skyscrapers, luminous rainbow-coloured lights flashing, hordes of people, busy with their lives, each with their own story.

New York city is a good example of a metropolis, being one of the busiest cities in the world. I took this photo from the top of the Empire State Building, getting to the top of that was an experience in itself, but I got some amazing views!

Illustration project

Our illustration project from last term was to create a 32-page children's book using the theme "things that fly" I created a book about a boy who goes flying in his own plane.

These are some page examples from my book, to create each page, I sketched out each double page in pencil, inked it in using black fineliner, then scanned the image into photoshop and coloured it digitally. I added the text last.

I got this book published using the self-publishing company lulu.com, which turned out successfully. You can buy the book here.

Today we made lino prints for "Metropolis". I created this print from a photograph I took whilst on a visit to Beijing.

City Building...

This week at college for the "Metropolis" project, we started to construct city sculptures out of different sorts of card, and this is what I came up with this far.
